Rested and Tested
I must admit that today was a little better once I was able to sleep on it. I was able to view two of my classmates blogs and the teacher's blog as well. Wow, the teacher's blog is a bit overwhelming!!! I do look at this as a chance to beef up my resume when I strike out on my own. I plan to soak up as much as I can from everyone to ensure I am well-rounded when I start my own business. Now I just have to narrow it down and start making solid decisions as to what direction I want to take it.

New Class Jitters
I look forward to the challenges that are ahead. I am a bit nervous, but if the classmates are as nice as in previous classes, I am sure it will be just fine. I normally do not like working in groups because of being burned in the past by it. But I think that everyone has no choice but to perform, and that is great. I am sure I will be able to pick up many great ideas from this class.
Week 1 Discussion Questions
Question 1: What is my reaction to this course overview?
Answer: As I read the overview I was thinking "What have I gotten myself into this time?" I always feel this way when I am not familiar about a new course, especially an online course that I have limited knowledge about. After I talked to a few of my colleagues who use blogs in their classes currently, I feel more at ease that I will also have other resourceful people in my building.
Question 2: How do you feel about a 100% constructivist and collaborative course like this?
Answer: I am always looking for new ways to help my students learn concepts, and I feel that this class will help me achieve that goal. I will plan to learn a great deal that I can then share with my colleagues. I believe that when the students a more hands-on with their learning it definitely makes a difference in what they retain and use when needed. I am looking forward to using everything I learn to create a different atmosphere in my classroom next school year.
Question 3: How do you feel about publishing your learning on wiki's and blogs?
Answer: I have always wanted to publish something, but I was a little uneasy about it. I hope that by the end of this course, I can publish on a regular basis. I feel that if I can do this, my math students will see the value and importance of writing in all subject areas.
